Gloria, it has been a long time since anyone has brought up the meaning of dandelion, which comes from Middle English dent-de-lioun , which comes from Old French dentdelion , which comes from Medieval Latin dēns leōnis

No kidding! Imagine my disappointment in the original article!
You need to read the article again. You complain that 'orchid' is misused because it says the plants aren't hardy, but that (you say) orchids actually are extremely tough in their native environments or if you can create their native(like) environment. In other words, that they excel in the right habitat, but don't do so well outside of that habitat.
That's precisely what the article says about 'orchid' types of people. Not that they are delicate in all environments, but that they're more responsive, down or up, to the environment (bad or good).
